A faery maid taught me to dance
She danced so wild and free
Now the dance that tempts the mortal boys
Is a dance known just to me

A faery maid taught me to play
Her tunes were wild and free
Now the song that drifts along the moors
Is a song composed by me

A faery maid taught me to sing
Her voice was wild and free
Now the voice that draws mortals to this place
Is the voice that belongs to me

But the jealous caught my faery friend
She's no longer wild and free
The lonely cries heard through the land
Are cries made just by me
