She tread the streets, frozen, grey, and warmed for an ever so brief moment when life passed over it. It may have been twenty years and reconstruction having passed thrice over but she still knew them well. And she knew that The Broken Halo would still be where it always has been.

It was her favorite place to become part of the atmosphere, to seek out her needs. All the pretty boys, she thought in intoxicated glee. Who would have thought that they would get prettier? She stared at one donned in leather and makeup while sipping a bluish, smoldering fluid from her glass. His companions egged him to go up to her. The grinding, slinking decibels overhead urged him to approach her. Her eyes insisted he come to her.

He rose from the table, slipping into a waking dream. The eye contact never broke as he crossed the space between them in his slow, awkwardly measured step. He could not remember what she looked like, only her eyes mattered. Eyes that filled him with unnatural longing. Standing in front of her, he swallowed, breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling to her heartbeat.

"Do you want to come home with me?"

All he could do was nod.
